Many of us find becoming a mum an incredibly rewarding experience, but at the same time it can be everything from elating to confusing and even terrifying! We often feel that everything we do is new, experimental, trial and error, and time and again we wonder if we are ‘doing the right thing’ for our new baby. ‘Is he sleeping enough? Gaining enough weight? Am I teaching him enough? Is he developing OK?’
Perhaps you’d like to receive some personal, non-judgemental, one to one support as you negotiate your way to confident, independent parenting. Or maybe you’d enjoy the chance to discuss how to look after your baby and yourself, to gain confidence in what you are doing and in your instincts with someone who has years of experience in supporting women at this time in their lives.
This is where I come in, offering different levels of support depending on your requirements. Perhaps you’d like some home visits to support you as you prepare for the baby, making practical arrangements for safer sleeping including temperature and layers needed for sleeping. Or maybe you’d like a weekly virtual session where you can check in about anything that has been concerning you that week without having to leave your home or even get dressed!
When your baby’s here, maybe you’d appreciate a little support whilst you get to grips with breastfeeding your baby and bathing him/her, too. Once you’ve done it a few times, your confidence will build, but you may like a guiding hand to start with.
Having trained as a psychotherapist and worked with mums and their new babies for many years, I can also offer therapeutic support for any emotional difficulties you’re experiencing. Being an ‘outsider’ from the family, I can help in a way that those closer to you can’t, as you may feel more able to talk to me about things they might find upsetting.
I look forward to your call and finding out how I can support you best.
